Stephen A. Smith will not want to be in the shadow of the Inside the NBA crew and will appear on the show at time, former ESPN president John Skipper says.
With TNT losing the broadcasting right to the NBA, its award-winning show Inside the NBA will get picked up by ESPN. The show might experience some change.
As part of the licensing deal, TNT will retain control of the show's production. ESPN's president, Burke Magnus, has said that Inside the NBA would remain the same and nothing would be changed.
However, former ESPN president John Skipper suggests that a slight change might still come due to the commitment the network has to its headliner, Stephen A. Smith.
"They probably have to account for my friend Stephen A. Smith, who really cares about the NBA, and he's not going to want to just be in the shadow of these other guys. I think you'll see him on Inside the NBA at some point," Skipper said during the most recent episode of the Pablo Torres Finds Out podcast.
Stephen A. Smith, who works at ESPN as a TV and radio host and commentator, is currently negotiating a new deal with the network. According to Andrew Marchand from The Athletic, Smith is set to sign a 6-year $120 million deal.
