Real Madrid’s good recent form continued on Saturday with a routine 3-0 victory over Girona. Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler and Kylian Mbappe got the goals for Los Blancos, although it was not any of them that received most of the attention from the home support inside Montilivi – rather, that was saved for young defender Raul Asencio.
Asencio was taken out of the starting line-up by Carlo Ancelotti, who opted to place Aurelien Tchouameni in the centre of defence alongside Antonio Rudiger. He was introduced as a substitute in the second half, at which point he became regular targeted by Girona fans whenever he touched the ball.
The reason? Sport say that the reason dates back to September 2023, which is when Asencio and three other Real Madrid academy players were accused of disseminating a sex tape of a minor.
Asencio has denied any wrongdoing on the matter, and Real Madrid remain comfortable having him in their first team squad. Curiously, it was recently reported that the defender could have ended up joining Girona during the summer.
