Paul Warne makes sobering David Ozoh admission as Derby County absence continues

Derby County's David Ozoh has been a big miss from Derby's midfield.

Derby County's David Ozoh has been a big miss from Derby's midfield.

Paul Warne cannot give a definitive timescale on David Ozoh's return to Derby County's midfield and admits he is still not in a position to return to full training.

Ozoh has been out of action since the win over Cardiff City earlier in the season having picked up a hamstring problem and then a quad muscle injury.

It was hoped that the on-loan Crystal Palace midfielder would be back this month with his absence being acutely felt in Derby's engine room.

But Warne admitted in the aftermath of Leeds' 2-0 win at Elland Road on Saturday, that he is unsure as to when he will be in a position to return.

"I don't honestly know," he said. "I know he had a little hiccup on his rehab before and it has not gone as quickly as anyone would hope. He is not in a place yet where he can fully join in.

"He just isn't right yet. He still has an awareness and even if that it is only 10 per cent, it could take weeks.

"Until he is fully right we can't push him any harder. If ever there was a perfect game to have Ebou Adams and David Ozoh as your two sitting midfielders, this was it. But it wasn't to be."
