Man Utd rocked by Ashworth exit after five months as sporting director

According to the Athletic, Ashworth will leave Old Trafford after his exit was agreed in a meeting with United chief executive Omar Berrada after Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Sources are said to claim United instigated the separation but the club say the final decision was mutual.

United are yet to publicly make an announcement on Ashworth but his departure will come as major shock given his importance in trying to reshape the club.
