Everton were set to welcome Arne Slot’s Liverpool to Goodison Park on Saturday, but the match was a victim of the winds brought by Storm Darragh.
The Liverpool derby may well have been off, but in Istanbul there was one of the city’s biggest match-ups on the agenda.
Beşiktaş, at home, beat local rivals Fenerbahçe 1-0, and there were multiple clubs in the stands to watch potential transfer targets on the pitch.
One of the clubs in question is Everton, who were watching a 24-year-old previously linked with Arsenal, reports [Sabah](https://www.sabah.com.tr/).
The man in question is Oğuz Aydın.
Born in the Netherlands, the winger moved to Fenerbahçe in July. Earlier in his career he’d been of interest to Arsenal, something directly confirmed by Bucaspor president Cihan Aktaş.
Arsenal interest was confirmed by club president
------------------------------------------------
Earlier this year, Aktaş [was quoted as saying](https://sportwitness.co.uk/two-italian-clubs-arsenal-club-chief-confirms-gunners-interest-winger/): _“Oğuz is a player who takes the stage at unexpected moments and wins matches. Two Italian clubs and Arsenal were after him. Galatasaray also wanted him, but when Ali Koç stepped in, he became a Fenerbahçe player.”_
Erol Bulut, who recently left his role as manager as Cardiff City, said last week he’d been keen to sign the winger for the Welsh club, but the club simply wasn’t able to fight for a deal.
Sabah report Everton sent a scout to specifically watch Oğuz Aydın. Lille and Lazio are said to have done the same.
