Derby County want to sign Aston Villa's Louie Barry in January according to reports.
Barry is currently flying on at Stockport County on loan in League One and is in irresistible form having scored an astonishing 15 goals already this term.
Speculation is mounting that Barry could be recalled from the Hatters in January and sent to the Championship. And now Alan Nixon is claiming Derby want the talented 21-year-old when the window opens next month.
Derby are eager to bolster their forward line and Barry can play out wide or through the middle. Head coach Paul Warne has already admitted that he is eager to reinforce his attack with Jerry Yates, on loan from Swansea, currently the top scorer with four goals.
But Derby will have to let players go in order to bring them in with the club currently at their 25-man squad limit. However, Warne has already admitted departures are to be expected with the likes of striker Conor Washington among those who could leave.
Speaking this week, Warne said: "I think everyone who watches us play can see there's really good bits of our play and what is missing. And I think we do miss a goal threat. And I've said that virtually since I've been here, to be fair since Didzy (David McGoldrick) left.
"We do miss more goal threats, put it that way. And we are hoping, I am hoping, that we can do it in January. But as always, a lot of things are in my control and out of my control. I've got another meeting tomorrow, another one Monday, that hopefully we can strengthen. Because if we come out of January and we have exactly the same players - and I don't think we will by the way - because a couple of players will leave. That is the nature of football. But there will definitely be new faces.
"But I don't want new faces that don't improve us. There's no point in just bringing someone in different just for the sake of change. I don't want that. But I'm hopeful that we can get a couple of targets, especially that can strengthen us."
