Nottingham Forest are interested in a move for Wigan Athletic attacking midfielder Thelo Aasgaard, according to reporter Alan Nixon on his Patreon page.
Wigan Athletic could face a battle to keep hold of one of their most prized assets in the upcoming January transfer window. He has made 18 appearances in the league so far this season for Shaun Maloney’s side and has chipped in with five goals.

Aasgaard, 22, has been on the books of the Latics since joining them back in 2016 and he has since risen up through their ranks. He was a regular for the League One side at various different youth levels before breaking into their first-team in 2020 and he hasn’t looked back since.
In this latest update regarding his situation at The Brick Community Stadium, reporter Nixon has claimed on Patreon that Nottingham Forest have been keeping tabs on his progress in the Football League over recent times.
Aasgaard is under contract at Wigan Athletic until the summer of 2028 meaning they are under no pressure to cash in on him this winter and can wait for the right offer to come in for his services if they are to consider letting him go.
Nixon reported last month on his Patreon that Stoke City were keen on luring him to the Bet365 Stadium.

The Potters now appear to have been joined by Nottingham Forest in pursuit of his signature and the Reds could see him as someone to add more competition and depth to their ranks in the Premier League.

Prior to joining the Latics, Aasgaard had a spell as a youngster at Liverpool.
The ex-Norway youth international made his first-team debut back in 2020 in a league fixture against Peterborough United.
Aasgaard penned his first professional contract a few months later in January 2021 and has since become a key player.

What now?
Time will tell whether Wigan Athletic receive any bids for the player.
Nottingham Forest are flying high in the top flight and may well be in Europe next term with the way they are playing. They beat Manchester United 3-2 at Old Trafford last time out.
As for the Latics, they were beaten 2-0 at home by Leyton Orient this weekend and are sat in 18th place in the table.
Shaun Maloney’s men are only two points above the drop zone as things stand.
