Nottingham Forest stun United 3-2, City held to draw by Palace

Nottingham Forest won 3-2 away to Manchester United on Saturday to leave Ruben Amorim with two defeats from three Premier League games since replacing Erik ten Hag.

Nikola Milenkovic powered in a header after just two minutes to give Forest the lead, but the lead didn't last for long as Rasmus Hojlund slid the ball into an empty net in the 18th minute after Manuel Ugarte's initial shot had been blocked.

Morgan Gibbs-White put Forest ahead again with a swerving shot that fooled goalkeeper Andre Onana early in the second half, and Chris Wood continued his incredible form with an angled header that made it 3-1 for the visitor.

Bruno Fernandes pulled United back into the match with a shot from outside the penalty area, but although there was still almost half an hour and seven minutes of injury time, Forest managed its rival's attempts to open up the pitch well to take a big win.

Elsewhere, Manchester City's struggle for form continued when they were held to a 2-2 draw away to Crystal Palace.

The result is frustrating for City coach Pep Guardiola after his side seemed to return to form with a 3-0 win at home to Nottingham Forest in midweek, but its defensive problems resurfaced in Palace's opening goal as Kyle Walker played Daniel Munoz onside to open the scoring after just four minutes into the game.

Erling Haaland netted a smart header to level on the half hour, but Palace, who is now unbeaten in four games, retook the lead 10 minutes into the second half thanks to Maxence Lacroix.

Rico Lewis saved a point for City in the 68th minute, but his day was spoiled in the closing minutes when he was sent off for a second yellow card.

In other action, Brentford continued its incredible home form with a 4-2 win at home to Newcastle United in a chaotic game played under a strong and gusty wind.

Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring for Brentford in the eighth minute, but Alexander Isak calmly leveled for Newcastle just three minutes later. Harvey Barnes gave the ball away for Brentford's second goal but redeemed himself with the equalizer in a rollercoaster first half.

The game could have gone either way, but Nathan Collins calmly side-footed home Brentford's third goal 10 minutes after the break and substitute Kevin Schade took advantage of Mbeumo's assist to assure the win in the last minute.

Elsewhere, Jhon Duran scored the only goal of the game as Aston Villa claimed a narrow 1-0 win at home to Southampton, with the visitor failing to register a single shot on target.

The Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park was postponed for safety reasons due to the effects of Storm Darragh.
