"Before we get to our first game we would like to send our best wishes to West Ham's Michail Antonio, who is in a stable condition following a road traffic accident this afternoon," Lineker said on the BBC show.
He continued, "The statement said 'Michail is conscious and communicating and is under close supervision at a central London hospital'."
Lineker concluded with, "Here is hoping for a full and speedy recovery."
The incident saw Antonio trapped in his Ferrari for 45 minutes following a collision with a tree in Essex, requiring fire crews to cut him free before being taken to hospital. West Ham later confirmed that their top Premier League scorer was alert and interacting in an evening update.
