Enzo Maresca’s men have played beyond expectations; however, they are yet to have any headline win against the traditional big six opponents, and away at struggling Tottenham looks like the perfect opportunity to do so. And BBC pundit Chris Sutton backs his former side to go all the way at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium later today.
Writing in his column for BBC, Sutton predicts:
“Usually I would expect a reaction from Spurs, but they are so unpredictable that I don’t know what will happen. They could win this game 4-0 like they did against Manchester City or lose it by the same scoreline. I am going with Chelsea here.
“While I do wonder about their experience, I think Enzo Maresca’s side are title contenders even if he insists they aren’t.”
For Spurs, the stakes are high. This game not only represents a crucial chance to regain some much-needed confidence at N17, but it could also be pivotal in determining how the season heads from here. Moreover, the fans would demand a response from that horrendous performance on Thursday. A loss would bang on the noises about Ange to be sacked, and that is the last thing Levy wants going into December fixtures.
