Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reportedly taken notice of Girona’s Czech defender Ladislav Krejci during their recent encounter with the Madrid-based club.
According to a report from Defensa Central, Perez was impressed by Krejci’s performance, prompting him to gather additional information about the player, including his age and details surrounding his signing by Girona.
Perez, well aware of the need to bolster Real Madrid’s defensive line soon, has been closely observing potential centre-back options during matches.
While Krejci’s performance stood out, neither Perez nor the Real Madrid management appear to be seriously considering him as a potential signing.
Despite his solid display, the belief within the club is that Krejci may not yet possess the level required to play for a club of Real Madrid’s stature.
Real Madrid have other priorities
Krejci, 25 years old, is currently contracted with Girona until June 2029. His market value is estimated at €10 million.

However, Real Madrid’s focus remains on pursuing players who fit their long-term vision and meet their exceptionally high standards.
The club has already set its sights on potential full-back targets, including Alphonso Davies and Trent Alexander-Arnold, as part of their plans for next summer’s transfer window.
In terms of centre-backs, Real Madrid’s search is still ongoing, with no definitive targets yet finalised. The club’s coaching staff is also reportedly keen on Raul Asencio, a promising player who recently caught their attention.
Real Madrid will need a centre-back
Meanwhile, given the advancing ages of key defenders like Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba, coupled with injury concerns, Perez and the management recognise the urgent need to strengthen the defensive line to maintain their competitive edge.
Failure to address these defensive concerns could leave the team vulnerable in the seasons ahead.
Real Madrid, known for their keen planning, are determined to avoid taking unnecessary risks and ensure their squad remains one of the strongest in European football.
