Bruno Guimaraes opens up

On Wednesday, Bruno Guimaraes was one of Newcastle’s best players.

The United captain at the heart of many of the best moves against Liverpool, assists for the first and third goals, whilst his pass fed Isak who then got an assist when playing in Anthony Gordon to score the second.

Three days later and a very different story.

Bruno Guimaraes wasn’t one of Newcastle’s worst players but individually and collectively, NUFC weren’t good enough at Brentford, despite a first half when they had been the better team but couldn’t take proper advantage of that.

The second half them a write-off.

Never one to hide, NUFC Captain Bruno Guimaraes has opened up in the aftermath of this defeat in West London.

Bruno Guimaraes speaking to Premier League Productions following Brentford 4 Newcastle 2:

“Very disappointing.

“We have to step up, the same way we did against Liverpool.

“First half we had some very good moments but second half we became a mess.

“After the third goal we lost our way and lost control.

“Very disappointed.

“We have to work hard to turn things around.

“We have been reactive, not active.

“We have had to (concede) goals to score goals, we never score first.

“We have conceded a lot of goals, this can’t happen, this cannot happen.

“We have to find a way to be consistent in the whole game, we have not been.

“We know we are able to do this because we have done it many times.

“This isn’t an excuse, we had a chance in the first half to win the game. We unfortunately missed some goals.

“The second half, after we conceded (the third goal on 56 minutes) we became a mess.

“We lost control and gave the ball a lot of times. When you do this, you get punished. That’s what happens today.

“I want to say thanks to the fans.

“It was not good weather for the day but they are always with us.

“This is a difficult moment.

“We have one week, we work hard to try and beat Leicester at home.”
