‘In the first half’… Ferran Torres highlights the problems as Barcelona drop more points

Despite having gone into this game on the back of a convincing 5-1 victory over Mallorca in their last La Liga match, FC Barcelona were unable to get the full three points in their last game against Real Betis.

Although the Blaugranes got into the lead twice in this match, it was clear that they were far from their best level, and had to endure a tough night against a very threatening Real Betis side.

Still, the Catalans were able to score two goals, the first scored by Robert Lewandowski, and the second by Ferran Torres, who replaced Pole in the center-forward position following his substitution.

As SPORT has reported, Torres was one of the players who spoke to the media after this game, and despite having scored another goal in this match, he was not very happy with how the match had ended, and expressed his dissatisfaction in the following words:

“In the first half, we weren’t sharp. In the second, we improved, but we failed to close the game and defend the result. Now we need to focus on the next match with hardly any time to rest.”

“I didn’t see the penalty; I think it involved taking his boot off. If it was protested that much, maybe there’s something to question, but we didn’t perform well. If we had played better, there’d be no need to dwell on such things.”

There is little to argue against the points that Ferran Torres makes here, as Barcelona were clearly far from their best in this match.

Fatigue could have been a factor in the low level of performance put in by the Catalans in the match, but whatever the reason, Flick will have to diagnose the team’s problems and come up with a solution as soon as possible to avoid losing more such points in the future.
