Juventus and Manchester City struggled at the weekend, collecting 2-2 draws against Bologna and Crystal Palace respectively.
City are already eight points below Premier League table leaders Liverpool, while Juventus are unbeaten in Serie A, but have won just two games from the last seven and are seven points below league leaders Atalanta.
Juventus and City meet in Turin on Wednesday in the Champions League Round 6. Both sides have earned eight points in the league phase this term.
Guardiola reveals Man City target against Juventus in season ‘to survive’
“The season’s start was difficult, and it will be difficult all season,” Guardiola said at a post-match press conference on Saturday.
“We have to survive; it’s a season to survive. We have to win games, take points and go forward. We know it. Unfortunately, we are missing important players for us this season. In general, what they [the players] have done in these circumstances is really, really, really good so. We knew from the start of the season; with everything wrong and unlucky in many things. We have to continue like this, with the players at our disposal. Now we go to Turin for the Champions League and we must try to perform well and get a result.”
Juventus’ 2-2 home draw against Bologna on Saturday infuriated fans at the Allianz Stadium. Old Lady’s boss, Thiago Motta, was even sent off for dissent in the second half.
The Bianconeri have two wins, two draws and one defeat in the Champions League this season.
