Arsenal have been tying their key players down to extended deals as a show of intent and willingness to remain competitive for the foreseeable future. To that tune, the Gunners are close to agreeing a four-year extension for star defender Gabriel Magalhaes.

As per reports from Arsenal Fanatic News, Gabriel’s agent Guiliano Bertoluicci was at Arsenal’s Sobha Realty Training Centre earlier in the week. The agent, who also represents Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Cunha, was reportedly at the training centre to negotiate an extension for the towering Brazilian.
Developments from the training centre suggest that Gabriel will sign a four-year contract extension. His existing deal was set to expire in 2027, but now having agreed new terms, a new deal will be active shortly, with the club expected to make an announcement soon.
Gabriel joined Arsenal in 2020 and has made 187 appearances for the club, scoring 19 goals and providing one assist as well.

Aside from the fact Guiliano Bertoluicci is Gabriel’s agent, he also represents Cunha of Wolves as mentioned above. The player has been on Arsenal’s radar for quite some time now, with a pursuit ready to take place with the January transfer window around the corner.
As per the aforementioned report, the agent has sent Cunha’s asking price at a cool £72m, a figure which the Gunners’ hierarchy will look to reduce to the best of their abilities. Arsenal are also in for Lois Openda from RB Leipzig, with the German club holding out for a similar fee compared to what has been asked for Cunha.
Both strikers are quick and agile players that offer the pace to run behind defences, the ability to finish with both feet, and are also good fits for the squad in general.
With the transfer window approaching soon, it will be interesting to see which target the Gunners actually pursue.
