Ange Postecoglou in Tottenham v Chelsea

Tottenham News Speaking to Bryan King

Sun 8 December 2024 12:10, UK

Bryan King claims Son Heung-min and Pedro Porro must start for Tottenham against Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

The ex-Spurs scout claims Postecoglou must name a full-strength team, with Son and Porro both benched for the 1-0 Premier League defeat against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Thursday [5 December].

Chelsea will travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 8 December, with Postecoglou expected to make three changes for the London Derby.

However, King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has insisted that this isn’t the time to be experimenting.

“Will we see an immediate response from the manager and players against Chelsea?” King said.

“Son and Porro have to start, the team needs to go back to full strength. You can’t start experimenting at home against Chelsea, especially not with the way they’re playing.

“They can’t make it easy for Chelsea at all. Therefore, they need to play the full-strength team to have any chance of victory, end of story.”

Son Heung-min and Pedro Porro to start for Tottenham against Chelsea?

Whether Postecoglou chose to rest Son and Porro against Bournemouth to save them for the Chelsea match remains unclear.

However, whatever the Australian’s thinking behind that decision was, both players must start against Chelsea, regardless of the busy fixture schedule or injuries piling up.

While Postecoglou will be keen to manage his player’s workload, this is arguably the biggest game of his Spurs reign yet, with fans having seemingly turned on him.

Therefore, the 59-year-old must start his best possible team, and avoid thinking about anything beyond Chelsea.

In other Tottenham news, Daniel Levy is to send Postecoglou a £40million message.
