Former Juventus star Alessandro Del Piero argued that the lack of ‘fear’ from the Bianconeri’s opponents is one of their major problems this season after watching the Old Lady rescue a point at home against Bologna with a late comeback.

Goals from Dan Ndoye and Tommaso Pobega gave the visitors a comfortable two-goal lead that they threw away in the closing 30 minutes of the game, with Samuel Mbangula’s strike in injury time eventually keeping Juventus’ unbeaten streak in Serie A alive.

Del Piero worried by lack of ‘fear’ in Juventus’ opponents

However, Del Piero insisted that coach Thiago Motta should be concerned about how the opposing teams seem to be ‘getting comfortable’ and believe ‘they can win’, as they don’t look intimidated by the prospect of facing the Bianconeri

“Tonight, they didn’t definitely miss the killer touch, they had a great comeback,” Del Piero told CBS Golazo after the Allianz Stadium fixture.

“They were losing 2-0 at home, so it’s a great comeback, even if there was a last-minute goal.

“But they’re in trouble, definitely, because they don’t have all the players. Another injury today, a bad injury for them, Cambiaso is a great player for Juventus.

“And to be honest, they’re also in trouble because teams are getting comfortable to play against them, and they believe they can win a game against Juventus. They didn’t win, but coming out with a draw for Bologna is a great result here.”

Beyond scoring Bologna’s opener in the first half, Dan Ndoye looked particularly inspired against the Turin giants, and Del Piero pointed out that the ‘motivation’ of playing against Juventus leads players to perform at their best, before giving an advice to Motta about something he has to ‘work on’.

“When you play against Juventus you got a lot of motivation. They’re still a great team, a great club, in any sense.

“So when you come here and play against them, you want to perform. That’s why players like Ndoye and others are pretty confident: ‘I come here, and I can make it’.

“The problem is that other teams are not worried. You need to see the fear of the other players when they play against you, this is not happening and this is one of the things Thiago Motta needs to work on.”
