"Such a waste", "When will he understand that he is a super sub?" - Fans question Arsenal star's inclusion in XI for Fulham clash

Arsenal fans on X have questioned Mikel Arteta's decision to include Leandro Trossard in the starting XI to face Fulham. The two sides are set to face each other in the Premier League at Craven Cottage later today (Sunday, December 8).

David Raya starts in goal for Arsenal. Thomas Partey, William Saliba, Jakub Kiwior, and Jurrien Timber make up the defense. The midfield consists of Jorginho, Declan Rice, and Martin Odegaard. Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, and Kai Havertz start up front to complete the starting XI.

Trossard has struggled for form this season, scoring four goals and providing two assists in 19 appearances across all competitions. Moreover, two of his goals have arrived when the Belgian came off the bench as a second-half substitute.

One Arsenal fan pointed this out as they posted:

"Trossard, when will he understand that he is a super sub?"

Another fan tweeted:

"Trossard LW is such a waste as well."

Here are some other fan reactions:

"if you want a trossard that isn't a dross, he comes off the bench," one fan insisted.

"Trossard also becomes bad when he starts.. he is a good substitute," another added.

"Trossard starting is scary hours but with how awful Martinelli has been i understand. We NEED to buy a World Class LW next summer," one fan tweeted.

"Nasty weather, injuries at the back, away , Trossard. Reeks of dropped points," another chimed in.

"They look strong all over the pitch" - Chris Sutton makes scoreline prediction for Fulham vs Arsenal

BBC Sport columnist Chris Sutton has backed Arsenal to defeat Fulham in their upcoming Premier League clash.

Since Martin Odegaard's return from injury, the Gunners have found form, most recently defeating Manchester United 2-0. They are currently third in the league with 28 points from 14 games, seven points behind leaders Liverpool, and level on points with Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Fulham are in ninth position with 22 points, winning three out of their last five league games. They also had the Gunners' number last season, winning one game and drawing the other in the league, and will be hoping to extend that unbeaten streak.

Sutton wrote on BBC (via Yahoo Sports):

"I am at this game for BBC Radio 5 live and I'm really looking forward to it. Fulham won this fixture last season and they had a brilliant win over Brighton last time out. I can't believe I went for the Seagulls to win that game, because I know how strong Fulham are at Craven Cottage. It is only the fact they are playing Arsenal that is stopping me going for a home win here."

He added:

"Arsenal needed corners to find a way past Manchester United on Wednesday, but they deserved to win the game anyway. Martin Odegaard is a special talent and he is the difference-maker for them. He knits everything together and he is the reason they are going on a bit of a run. Their confidence is growing and they look strong all over the pitch.

"They did not miss Gabriel at the back against United, but this might be a tougher test for them, especially because some of Fulham's key players are Gunners old boys. One of them could easily come back to haunt Arsenal and put a dent in their title bid, but Arteta's side have got the ability to grind out results when they need to."

Sutton's Prediction: 1-3
