Chelsea’s main star to be absent until February or March

Chelsea star Sam Kerr is not expected to return to action until feburary or march. It has been confirmed by the head coach Sonia Bompastor. The Chelsea boss also gave information about other injured stars.

Sam Kerr has not played a game since 21 December 2023. She tore her ACL which then required surgery. That was a huge blow for Chelsea as Kerr is considered as their most important player.

Kerr has so far played 122 games for Chelsea. She has 95 goals and has picked 28 assists too. She is already considered as Chelsea and Australia legend. Kerr has so far player 110 games for Australia and has scored 66 goals along with recording 22 assists for her country. All stats and records are as per FOTMOB.

Sonia Bompastor has so far been extremely impressive for Chelsea. She has guided the Blues to 12 victories in 12 games. Bompastor has recently provided the possible return for Sam Kerr.

“We are maybe looking at having her back with us in February or March, not before that. She hasn’t started yet to train and be modified with the group. She’s still on her individual process rehab. I think it will take atleast two or three more months for her to be fit enough with the squad” – Bompastor about Kerr’s recovery process and possible return date.

Later, the Chelsea boss provided information about other injured players. She said that Lauren James will not be available until January. Bompastor said that James is progressing really well with her rehab.

On the positive side, Niamh Charles is back fit and can play against Manchester United. But, Bompastor does not want to take any unnecessary risks by playing her before she is fully fit. Lastly, Maika Hamano is now fully fit and can play next game.
