Conflicting reports are swirling about who is the favourite to become the next manager/head coach of West Ham United.
[Julen Lopetegui](https://www.claretandhugh.info/julen-lopetegui/) has been given one final game to save his embryonic Hammers career in tomorrow’s Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the [London Stadium](https://www.claretandhugh.info/london-stadium-bio/).
With both Lopetegui and Wolves boss Gary O’Neil reportedly close to the sack, **West Ham** are understood to be lining up the Spaniard’s replacement should the Hammers fail to win.
Some newspapers speculate that Middlesbrough manager and former Hammers midfielder Michael Carrick has moved into pole position to take over the West Ham hot seat.
However, contrasting reports suggest that former Chelsea and Brighton boss Graham Potter is in advanced talks with Irons officials and close to a deal.
It’s important to note that there is no confirmation from the West Ham side feeding these rumours at present, although this doesn’t rule out agents drip-feeding information to the media.
That being said, it appears the contest to replace Lopetegui at West Ham has turned into a two-horse race.
