Ruud van Nistelrooy wants to bring Toby Collyer to Leicester City as he looks for a favour from Manchester United.
The Dutchman is eager to bolster his squad when the January transfer window opens next month and has reportedly targeted a move for United youngster Collyer.
The 20-year-old midfielder is highly regarded at Old Trafford and van Nistelrooy knows what he can do having been in charge of United in an interim capacity after Erik Ten Hag's exit. Collyer impressed Ten Hag with his running stats and was given his debut in the Charity Shield clash against Manchester City this summer.
The Sun claim van Nistelrooy is ‘planning on using his contacts at Old Trafford’ to sign the Collyer who joined the United academy from Brighton two years ago. But in order for that to happen either Facundo Buonanotte or Odsonne Edouard would have to have their deals terminated as Leicester have reached their limit on domestic loans.
Transfers are on the agenda for the Foxes chief who said it was a topic of discussion with Leicester's hierarchy when he joined the club.
“We had a conversation about that (transfers) in London before I signed. We spoke about that, the winter window, and also towards the summer," he said.
“We also said that at the same time there’s no rush to do things. I agree with that. The squad is now getting opportunities to prove themselves over this month, which is a great month to work together and play together. There’s time after that to make a good assessment when I’ve seen the players with my own eyes, and we can make decisions in January.”
Aston Villa to rescue ex-Leicester City ace?
Kieran Dewsbury-Hall is reportedly frustrated by his lack of first-team chances at Chelsea and that could lead to Aston Villa making a move for him next month.
The midfielder has yet to make a start for the Blues in the Premier League and has fallen down the pecking order under ex-Foxes boss Enzo Maresca. Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia are all ahead of him and reports have claimed that Villa boss Emery is keen on making a move.
Chelsea paid £30m to land Dewsbury-Hall in the summer and it is said that the Blues could sanction a loan move if he pushes for an exit.
The midfielder played a key role for Leicester last season as they won promotion from the Championship.
Many expected Maresca to make him first-choice and while he has been playing in the Europa Conference League, starts in the top flight have been hard to come by.
