Tyler Adams was left off the matchday squad for Bournemouth's match against Ipswich Town on Sunday, with manager Andoni Iraola saying he didn't want to take any risk with the American midfielder.
After missing the first two months of the season following offseason back surgery, Adams has become a key player for the Cherries.
The 25-year-old has started Bournemouth's past four Premier League games, going the full match last weekend against Wolves, as well as Thursday against Tottenham.
With such a quick turnaround, Iraola said before Sunday's game that he wasn't ready to risk a player who has struggled mightily with injuries aver the past two years.
"Tyler has played two 90s this week already," Iraola said via the Bournemouth Daily Echo. "He finished the other day with cramps everywhere.
"With just a very, very short turnaround, it didn't make any sense to take any risk with him. I trust also the players we have on the bench."
Between back and hamstring injuries, Adams made just five appearances for Bournemouth across all competitions in 2023-24, playing 138 minutes.
Adams has played six games (four starts) for the Cherries thus far in 2024-25, totaling 345 minutes.
