[**Calciomercato**](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/la-juventus-non-rispetta-la-sua-storia-festeggia-un-misero-pareg-99937) journalist Sandro Sabatini believes Juventus ‘fail to honour their legacy’ following their most recent draw with Bologna. The Bianconeri spent most of the match trailing, but a late strike from Samuel Mbangula saw them snatch a late point at the Juventus Stadium. Writing in his column, Sabatini took aim at the Bianconeri’s approach this season, highlighting that they are 9 points worse off compared to last season:
“The rainbow strike from Mbangula is not enough to clear the skies for Juventus. It’s sufficient for a meager draw, albeit emotionally thrilling as Juve found themselves on the brink of disaster, down by two goals after an hour with Thiago Motta sent off for a regrettable gesture towards the referee. This gesture was made worse by coinciding with the day dedicated to combating physical and verbal violence against referees.
“The match recap is filled with significant moments, but what remains etched in memory is that in the initial half-hour, until Ndoye’s goal, only Bologna was playing. In front of the usual “sold out” Stadium crowd, there were also eleven non-paying spectators: those on the field, from Perin to Vlahovic, including the returning Fagioli and the injured Cambiaso (substituted after fifteen minutes, doubtful for the Champions League match against City on Wednesday). In that half-hour of magnificent football, Italiano’s Bologna seemed like… Thiago Motta’s Bologna? While Thiago Motta’s Juve looked like… Allegri’s Juve? Please, enough with these low-profile ironies and zero football competence, which only serve to gain a handful of likes on social media. Enough! Because if we continue to say and write such long-standing nonsense, we plunge into ridicule. Better to avoid it.
“We cannot avoid an analysis so correct that it becomes even ruthless towards this Juventus that “celebrates” – so to speak – the draw snatched at the last breath. The statistics are embarrassing. Starting from those of the most modern narrative: ball possession, shots on target, XG, through passes, and so on: let’s be clear, in this year’s Juve, there isn’t even one excellent statistic. In fact, compared to a year ago, the team has 9 points less. This alone says it all. The lineup choices add more. The exclusions of Thuram and Yildiz are incomprehensible, indeed they came on in the second half replacing Locatelli (involved in errors on both Bologna goals) and Fagioli (imperceptible). But all were below par, dazed in front of the football lesson that Bologna imparted until Mbangula’s equalizer. The only positive notes were captain Danilo (a rediscovered leader) and the noticeable improvement of Koopmeiners, who also found – finally – his first goal in Juventus colors. The Bianconeri history, indeed: the one that, at least for now, the current Juventus is not respecting.”
