West Ham United star Michail Antonio has undergone surgery following his shock car crash.
On Saturday, December 7, West Ham said the 34-year-old forward had been involved in a road traffic accident. Photos on social media emerged of Antonio's Ferrari that had crashed, with the frontend of the car wrecked in the smash, as the player's [ex-wife and mother of his four children rushed to his bedside](http://Michail Antonio's ex-wife and mum of four kids rushes to bedside after horror car crash).
Following the crash, the club have now confirmed he has undergone surgery. A club statement read: "West Ham United can confirm Michail Antonio has undergone surgery on a lower limb fracture following a road traffic accident on Saturday afternoon (7 December 2024). Michail will continue to be monitored in hospital over the coming days.

They added: "Everyone at the club wishes Michail a speedy recovery and wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the football family at large for the overwhelming support shown since yesterday’s news, as well as extending a heartfelt thank you to the emergency services and first responders who attended to Michail in the immediate aftermath of the incident, and the medical team who continue to aid him in his recovery. The club will provide further updates when appropriate."
There had been worries about what state Antonio was in following the horrifying incident, which left the West Ham star needing to be air-lifted from the wreckage of the car. After the news of the crash broke, West Ham wrote on X Antonio was in "a stable condition".

The club statement said: "West Ham United can confirm that Michail Antonio is in a stable condition following a road traffic accident this afternoon in the Essex area.
"Michail is conscious and communicating and is currently under close supervision at a central London hospital. At this difficult time, we kindly ask everyone to respect the privacy of Michail and his family. The club will make no further comment this evening, but will issue a further update in due course."
Essex Police also issued a statement, asking for witnesses to come forward if they have any information or dash cam footage of the crash. They said: "We were called shortly after 12.50pm on Saturday 7 December to Coppice Row, Epping, following reports of what is believed to be a single vehicle collision involving a Ferrari.

"Emergency services attended and the driver has been taken to hospital. The vehicle has been recovered and we are no longer on scene. An investigation will be carried out by our Roads Policing Unit.
