Arsenal hands Liverpool Premier League title boost after failing to take Gary Neville's advice

Liverpool [has had a good weekend in the Premier League](https://www.liverpool.com/liverpool-fc-news/features/liverpool-premier-league-arsenal-garyneville-30540714) without even playing after both Manchester City and Arsenal dropped points and couldn't capitalize on the Merseyside derby being postponed.

Mikel Arteta's side thought they had beaten Fulham late on when Bukayo Saka scored but Gabriel Martinelli was offside in the build-up. Fulham had gone ahead through Raul Jimenez before William Saliba equalized.

In failing to win, both Manchester City and Arsenal couldn't take Gary Neville's advice. The former Manchester United man was desperate for the gap to be cut at the top of the Premier League and for the pressure to be put on Liverpool. Instead, the gap has only been cut to six points with the Reds having a game in hand.

"I think to get within four points psychologically is a big thing for those clubs," Neville said while working as a pundit on NBC. "Because they were looking last week at nine points, 11 points if you’re City. So, there is a real closing of the gap and I think that does make a difference."

Chelsea could cut Liverpool's lead to four points if it can beat Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium later today. Enzo Maresca's men would then have played a game more than Arne Slot's. Liverpool is next in Premier League action against Fulham at Anfield next weekend when Alexis Mac Allister will serve his one-game ban.

There is a long way to go but neither Manchester City nor Arsenal are at their best. The Gunners have their players back from injury now so that excuse has gone. Lacking a reliable goalscorer, though, it is playing catch-up at the top._
