Leicester fans are all in agreement about Ruud van Nistlerooy’s ‘baffling’ decision against…

Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s unbeaten start as Leicester boss continued against Brighton, as his side rescued a late 2-2 draw.

The Dutchman would have been hoping for yet another impressive performance following their win against West Ham in midweek, Leicester however flattered to deceive for large proportions against the Seagulls.

Fabian Hurzeler’s side were dominant throughout, with the Foxes failing to really lay a glove on them until late a comeback inspired by Jamie Vardy.

Despite two last-ditch goals, Leicester struggled going forward for the majority of the game, with the likes of Bilal El Khannous and Jordan Ayew failing to provide the spark needed.

The latter was heavily criticised for his performance at the King Power Stadium, with fans labelling Ayew’s performance against Brighton as ‘lazy’.

Replacing the ineligible Facundo Buonanotte, van Nistelrooy’s decision to bring in Ayew has been questioned by Leicester supporters.

Leicester fans criticise Ruud van Nistlerooy’s Jordan Ayew selection

Leicester fans were calling for Stephy Mavididi to start vs Brighton, but van Nistlerooy would choose to hand Ayew a start instead – a decision that would ultimately backfire following Ghamian’s poor performance.

Foxes fans didn’t react to this decision lightly, taking to X (formerly Twitter) – to voice their frustrations.

One fan said: “I’d have gone for Mavididi over Ayew from the start. Happy overall with the 11. Come you foxes!”

Another supporter said: “Start mavididi instead of Ayew?”

Other Leicester fans took the chance to highlight Ayew’s poor performance.

“I feel like I say this every game but Jordan Ayew is so god awful,” said another supporter.

Jordan Ayew’s disappointing stats vs Brighton

Substituted at 62 minutes, Leicester fans would eventually get their wish with Stephy Mavididi replacing the Ghanian on the left-hand flank.

Mavididi would play a key part in Leicester’s eventual comeback, linking up well with Vardy and Bobby De Cordova-Reid.

Ayew’s stats against the Seagulls suggest van Nistlerooy may have to rethink his attacking selection.

With that being said it would be no surprise to see Ayew drop to the bench when Leicester travel to Newcastle next.
