Jamie Carragher has named the team Liverpool should be more worried about in the Premier League title race between Arsenal and Chelsea. The Reds are sitting comfortably at the top of the table with a game in hand, having not this weekend.
Their Merseyside derby against Everton was postponed amidst fan safety concerns due to Storm Darragh, which has caused heavy winds in the area. Ahead of the Gunners' and the Blues' matches on Sunday (December 8), the Reds (35) are seven points ahead of both clubs.
Even if they win their games, the Reds will still sit four points ahead. However, Liverpool legend Carragher believes that his former club have to be wary about Arsenal rather than Chelsea, saying on Sky Sports:
"When I think of teams who win the league, I always think of a great goalkeeper. Chelsea haven't got a great goalkeeper. And when you think of what Arsenal did a couple years ago, they were never going to win the league with Aaron Ramsdale.
"They brought Raya in and he's a better keeper, and it gives them a greater chance. So I just think Chelsea would miss out, but they're definitely in the race."
The Gunners face Fulham at Craven Cottage, while the Blues take on Tottenham Hotspur at New White Hart Lane with the knowledge that a big win will keep them in second place, ahead of Mikel Arteta's side.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca doesn't believe Blues are in title race with Arsenal and Liverpool
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca doesn't think that the Blues are in the title race. Despite sitting in the top four, alongside Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City, the Blues manager has looked to temper expectations.
He made it clear that other clubs, like the Gunners, have been very close to winning the title in recent years, unlike the Blues, telling the press (via Sports Illustrated):
"They have been there in the last two years very close to City, and we were very far to City. I said to be in the title race is nice pressure. For me, and for the players. But it's not our case. Hopefully soon, we can be there."
The Blues finished sixth last season, and the season before that, they had finished 12th. They will need to keep up their consistency this season if they are to remain near the top of the Premier League table, where Liverpool are ruling the roost.
