Arsenal fans on X have criticized Martin Odegaard after he struggled to make an impact during their 1-1 draw against Fulham. The Gunners dropped two valuable points in their Premier League fixture at Craven Cottage on Sunday, December 8.
Raul Jimenez gave Fulham the lead in the 11th minute with a brilliant finish into the bottom-left corner. The Gunners rallied back and leveled the scores via William Saliba following a corner (52'). Bukayo Saka thought he had won the game for Arsenal after he headed home in the 88th minute. However, his goal was chalked off by VAR after Gabriel Martinelli was deemed to have been offside in the build-up.
Martin Odegaard started in midfield, playing 79 minutes before being subbed off for Ethan Nwaneri. Even though he created three chances, the 25-year-old failed to have a notable presence, particularly in carrying the ball forward. He landed zero shots on goal, completed zero dribbles from two attempts, lost six duels, and lost possession 19 times.
One Arsenal fan posted:
"I have told you people about Odegaard. Good player but he is not elite and he will never be elite. You cannot watch an attacking midfielder with this sort of angle bias, zero dynamism, one-footedness and think he is elite"
Another fan tweeted:
"I don’t get it, Odegaard is always underwhelming in tough fixtures, why do Arsenal fans ride out for him like he’s decisive every single time? Is the aesthetic bias that serious? I’d want him out if he always did that bs in Madrid."
Other fans reacted below:
"Odegaard another stinker in the rain," one fan commented.
"Odegaard 0 ball carrying power in turnovers/transition is killing Arsenal offensively," another added.
"Won’t win anything if our ‘creative midfielder’ is Odegaard," one fan insisted.
"Saka is basically doing his job plus Odegaard's own job for him because Odegaard can't do anything centrally or give a good pass towards the left side," another typed.
"Odegaard has been shocking," another chimed in
How did Arsenal fare during their 1-1 draw against Fulham?
