Wolverhampton Wanderers will face West Ham United in the Premier League on Monday night away from home.
Wolves have lost nine of their 14 Premier League games so far and are 19th in the table.
It does not come as a big surprise that they are looking to bring a new manager in place, and another poor result against the Hammers could see Gary O’Neil losing his job.
Wolves have been checking out several options. West Bromwich Albion manager Carlos Corberan has emerged as one of the candidates, while David Moyes and Graham Potter are also being considered.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, Moyes is refusing to discuss the Wolves job at the moment despite the fact that he is without work after leaving West Ham.
Why David Moyes is refusing to discuss the Wolves job
Wolves have shortlisted the 61-year-old manager for the position if O’Neil leaves, but the Scotsman is not willing to talk just now.
The highly experienced manager is a leading light within the manager’s union, and he thinks it is unfair to discuss a role when a colleague is still working at a club.
O’Neil is in grave danger of losing his job, especially if Wolves lose to West Ham on Monday night, and the club could make a formal approach to Moyes.
Nixon suggests that while Moyes is eager to return to management, doubts remain about whether he would be willing to take the job.
Moyes did a terrific job at West Ham, and he is waiting for the right opening. He could make an emotional return to Everton if Sean Dyche is sacked by the Friedkin Group, who are expected to complete the takeover before Christmas.
Julen Lopetegui is also under extreme pressure, and the Spaniard could be sacked if the poor results continue. In that case, Moyes could have a remarkable third spell at West Ham in the right circumstances.
