Liverpool's Premier League title rivals Arsenal have been handed a triple injury blow. The Gunners may well be considered Liverpool's nearest title challengers this season, having finished second in each of the previous two campaigns.

Reigning champions Manchester City, meanwhile, have suffered a collapse in form and sit eight points off Arne Slot's men, who also have a game in hand, while Chelsea remain inexperienced under head coach Enzo Maresca. And the Reds will have been boosted by the news that Arsenal dropped points in a 1-1 draw at Fulham on Sunday.

The Gunners thought they had scored a late equaliser, but Gabriel Martinelli was adjudged by VAR to be in an offside position in the build-up. Mikel Arteta's team have also been dealt several injury blows, with Gabriel and summer signing Riccardo Calafiori absent from Sunday's squad against the Cottagers.

Full-back Oleksandr Zinchenko also missed out due to injury. Arsenal's next Premier League fixture is at home to Everton on Saturday, December 14 (3pm).

Slot's side, meanwhile, are due to kick-off at the same time at home to Fulham, following Tuesday's Champions League fixture away at Girona. The Reds will have had some chance to rest after Saturday's Merseyside derby at Everton was cancelled due to the inclement weather.

That postponement was brought about by Storm Darragh. In those games, Liverpool may also have a chance to welcome back several first-team regulars.

Saturday's fixture at Goodison Park would have come too soon for on-the-mend goalkeeper Alisson Becker, plus forwards Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa. All three will now put in more work on their fitness, with the possibility of them featuring on Tuesday night in Spain.
