[Manchester United](https://thebusbybabe.sbnation.com) Women got back to winning ways on Sunday with an emphatic 4-0 win over rivals [Liverpool](https://liverpooloffside.sbnation.com/) in the Women’s Super League. It was Marc Skinner’s first league win over Liverpool in two seasons and put his side right back in the top three race.
The Reds broke through against the visitors just after the half hour as Elisabeth Terland took advantage of a kind deflection to control and place the ball past the keeper. Geyse had the initial chance blocked away by a defender and the Norwegian rewarded the good play with a finish.
They only had to wait about a minute or so to add the second, with Leah Galton thumping a shot into the roof of the net after a ball over the top from Dominique Janssen. It was an electric few minutes of play to take charge of the match. More importantly, it was a spark of attacking magic the team had sorely lacked so far in the league campaign.
Phallon Tullis-Joyce and the defense had to match Liverpool on a few occasions, but the match was put to bed early in the second half as Janssen capped another good spell of play with a goal of her own. A corner kick caused some chaos in the play, and the ball eventually fell perfectly for the Dutch defender at the top of the box to fire through the crowd for 3-0.
The team setup which saw the Reds play so free included a couple of notable changes. For one, Geyse returned to the starting XI and showed her class once again as a player who simply makes things happen in attack. With Grace Clinton and Hinata Miyazawa finding their own spaces in midfield the wingers saw plenty of the ball, and both Geyse and Leah Galton were able to get involved and stay involved.
It was the case for Terland as well, who is the kind of striker who gets on the end of chances far more than she creates them herself.
United would score a fourth goal for the good vibes in the final stage of the match as substitute Melvine Malard found the net. A cross intended for Rachel Williams looped over the forward’s head and fell kindly for the no. 9 near the back post.
Three points, four goals, and a clean sheet. Can’t ask for much better than that, especially for a team that came into the match with just one win in five league matches.
That is the sort of response fans have been hoping for as pressure has mounted on Marc Skinner. It sends his team into the top four, level on 18 points with Arsenal as the fight for European spots rages on.
