Alan Myers has predicted it’s “likely” that Everton will try to bring in a defender and a winger in the January transfer window.
The journalist reported via his personal X account (8 December) that the Toffees’ winter window would depend on a “couple” of things but with the Friedkin Group takeover now imminent, moves could well be made.
Everton had a heavy-spending summer window that saw the likes of Jake O’Brien and Iliman Ndiaye come in but with the club currently sitting 15th in the table, it’s clear why the rumour mill is starting to turn.
“Depends on a couple of things, to be honest, but I would think defence and winger would be likely,” he wrote.
Everton and Sean Dyche need some sort of January reinforcement
There have been times this season when the Toffees have shown their class and come away from games with all three points to their name.

But the fact they currently sit just five points above the drop zone should rightly be a cause for concern for all those involved with the club.
Sean Dyche’s role as Everton manager has been under some severe scrutiny since the start of the term and while he’s likely been kept in his role due to the impending takeover, it feels like he’s still the right man for the job.
He guided the Merseyside outfit through one of the toughest periods in their history last season when they were deducted points on two separate occasions due to two different breaches of the Premier League’s PSR rules.
Only time will tell what the future has in store for both parties but if they want to make their way out of the relegation battle, reinforcement in January would no doubt help them out massively.
