'A real player': Jamie Carragher thought 'brilliant' Chelsea star was so good against Tottenham

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher was really impressed with one Chelsea player after his performance against Tottenham Hotspur.

It was not a good start for Enzo Maresca‘s men after they quickly found themselves 2-0 down in the first half.

However, Jadon Sancho got Chelsea back into the game with a beautiful goal before Cole Palmer eventually equalised for his side.

Marc Cucurella was at fault for the first two goals Chelsea conceded after slipping twice.

Jamie Carragher praises Romeo Lavia

Lavia, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez all started for Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Fernandez was the man who put Chelsea in front for the first time during the game so will get a lot of credit, but Carragher was really impressed with Lavia, who was eventually substituted by Maresca.

Commentating on the match for Sky Sports (08/12/2024 at 17:13), the Liverpool legend said: “Lavia’s been brilliant in midfield; he looks a real player.”

Lavia picked up a yellow card and did not come out for the second half, but he was definitely one of Chelsea’s better players in what was a really difficult first 45 minutes.

According to Sofascore, the midfielder made three tackles, three interceptions and won four of his ground duels.

As Chelsea really struggled during that first half, Lavia battled for his side as he tried to help them stay in the game.

Of course, it was Sancho who kept Chelsea alive after they went 2-0 down, and the winger is starting to look like an excellent signing for the Blues.

Chelsea brought Sancho in on an initial loan deal at the end of the last transfer window and are set to sign him permanently next summer.

Sancho, Lavia and Palmer all spent time at Manchester City, who could probably do with the trio at this moment in time. Thankfully for Maresca, he has all three of them in his Chelsea squad.
