Chelsea recorded a vital win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.

Cole Palmer delivered a cold response when asked why he decided to chip Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Fraser Forster from the penalty spot.

Enzo Maresca's men produced a monumental comeback at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday afternoon to record a vital Premier League victory.

Spurs went 2-0 up inside 11 minutes but Jadon Sancho scored to make it 2-1 in the 17th minute.

In the second half, Palmer inspired Chelsea to a 4-3 win after scoring twice from the spot while also providing a stunning assist for Fernandez to make it 3-2.

For his second penalty in the 84th minute, the Englishman produced a brilliant panenka to make it 4-2 and also set a new Premier League and Chelsea record.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Palmer explained why he decided to chip the penalty.

He said: "We knew it was going to be tough so to win is good. When I stepped back and looked at the clock I thought it's a bit frantic, the game is all over the place and I thought the keeper was ready to dive so I just chipped it.

"I'm just trying to score and thankfully it went in."

When asked about Chelsea's Premier League title chances, Palmer added: "We knew with Arsenal and City drawing that we needed to win and we did."

Former England and Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher also praised Palmer on commentary on Sky Sports, he said: "Of course it's a penalty. You could see it happening. I said in the first half how naive this Tottenham team are. It's just not working. The decision making from some of these players. Academy players wouldn't do that.

"What a signing he's been and what a penalty. It's brilliant. He is coolness personified."

Chelsea will be back in action on Thursday night when they take on Astana in the UEFA Europa League.
