Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United have received a massive boost in their pursuit of LOSC Lille ace Jonathan David.
According to a report from CaughtOffside, Jonathan David is keen on making a move to the Premier League and it is a massive boost for Arsenal and Manchester United who are interested in acquiring the services of the LOSC Lille striker.
David came up the ranks at KAA Gent and made a name for himself while playing for their first team before securing a move to the French club in the summer of 2020. Over the years, the Candian international has gone from strength to strength and has established himself as one of the most exciting forwards in Ligue 1.
The 24-year-old contributed towards 35 goals last season and he already has 20 goal contributions this season. He might not be one of the most sought-after players but his consistency has surely attracted a lot of interest of late.
David is expected to be a free agent at the end of the season which has put multiple top clubs on alert. While Lille do not really want to lose out on him for nothing, they don’t really have any options to play with. He will most likely run down his contract and then look to secure a move to England.
David could be headed to the Premier League
At this point in time, Inter Milan are the ones who are most serious about signing the Canadian international. But, he is keen on moving to the Premier League where Arsenal and Manchester United have shown some interest in signing the 24-year-old.
Both English giants have already held talks with David’s entourage about a potential transfer. The Gunners seek a new number nine. Gabriel Jesus is no longer an important part of Mikel Arteta’s plans.
They are all set to part ways with him and since Kai Havertz isn’t really an out-and-out forward, the North London clubs want to bring a proven goal scorer. David might not be the most exciting name on their shortlist but he can be an effective signing up top and it would certainly be a bargain as he will be a free agent.
Meanwhile, Ruben Amorim is also looking for an upgrade of Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund. Having spent millions on players who haven’t really delivered, the Red Devils could look to make a smart move by signing David for free to bolster their attack.
