West Ham in talks with potential Lopetegui replacement who has won multiple league titles

West Ham United have established contact with former Juventus boss Max Allegri as they are considering parting ways with Julen Lopetegui.

Julen Lopetegui’s future at West Ham United has been uncertain of late. The Spanish boss could be shown the exit door before the winter break and the Hammers have already started preparing for life without him.

According to a report from Football Insider, the London club are interested in appointing Max Allegri to replace the former Wolves boss. The Italian tactician has been without a job since May and is believed to be very keen on managing in England.

Lopetegui took charge of the Hammers in the summer. He was handed significant funds to bolster his squad and bring in players who could help him play the brand of football he wants them to.

Unfortunately, the Spanish manager has failed to get his ideas across to the players. His team have only won four out of their 14 league games and are currently 14th in the English top flight.

While the 3-1 defeat at the hands of Leicester City was considered the final nail in the coffin, people at the club have given him another opportunity to save his job. The game against Wolves will decide his future, a defeat in that fixture will mean game over for Lopetegui.

West Ham approach Max Allegri

The Hammers are already preparing for a potential sacking as they are looking at candidates who can take over from the former Sevilla. The report suggests former Juventus boss Allegri is quite high on the wishlist and they have already held a meeting with him.

The Italian manager is keen on managing a club in the Premier League and has been learning English in his time off as he waits for the perfect opportunity to make a return. While Allegri’s record as a manager suggests he could be an exceptional appointment, the financial side of things could be a problem for the London club.

His big name and winning experience are certainly a positive but the financial package needed to bring him to England is beyond West Ham’s capabilities. As a result, the board will most likely look at other targets.
