Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim suffered a second successive defeat as his side were beaten 3-2 by Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
The visitors went ahead early on at Old Trafford through defender Nikola Milenkovic, before Rasmus Hojlund drew the hosts level.
After the break, Morgan Gibbs-White put Forest back in front, before Chris Wood added a third.
United captain Bruno Fernandes pulled another goal back for the Red Devils, but Amorim’s side were unable to find an equaliser and they sit 13th in the Premier League table.
Amorim will undoubtedly want to bolster his squad next year, either during the January window or in the summer.
With that in mind, it appears that the Manchester club are eyeing a move for an England international.
As per Spanish outlet Fichajes via GiveMeSport, United are interested in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
The centre-back joined the Eagles from Chelsea in 2021 having made just two senior appearances for the Blues, although he had enjoyed two successful loan spells with Swansea City.
Guehi is a target for Manchester United
Since his move to Selhurst Park, the 24-year-old has played 129 times for Palace across all competitions.
During the recent summer transfer window, he was heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United and was the subject of a number of bids from the Magpies.
That move never materialised, though, and he has continued to play a key role for Oliver Glasner’s side.
The report claims that United are hoping to sign the defender for a fee in the region of £40 million, while Palace are likely to hold out for their valuation of £60 million.
Guehi’s contract with the London side is set to expire in the summer of 2026, but it appears increasingly likely that he could leave the club next year.
Newcastle are also still believed to be interested in the Englishman, who has been capped 22 times by his country at senior level.
