Manchester City are believed to be in talks to poach one of Liverpool’s key star players away from Anfield.
So far this season has not been going to plan for Liverpool’s long-time title rivals City, with a disastrous November period in which they failed to win a game, culminating with a lacklustre performance when they faced off against the Reds on the first day of December and lost 2-0.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are flying under Arne Slot and have capitalised on poor results from both Mikel Arteta's Arsenal and Man City to become huge favourites to win the Premier League title this season.
Now, it is reported that in an attempt to make up some of that lost ground next season, Pep Guardiola could tempt away one of Liverpool’s most important stars.
Man City considering Trent Alexander-Arnold offer
A report from CaughtOffside has named Manchester City as being one of several top European clubs that are considering making an offer to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer upon the expiration of his contract next summer, even going as far as to open talks with his representatives.
The report also cites Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain as having an interest in the Reds’ right-back, not to mention the long-standing admiration he has received from Real Madrid. Indeed, the report goes on to mention that the Spanish capital would be Alexander-Arnold’s preferred choice were he not to sign another contract with Liverpool.
If City were to strike a deal with Trent, it would surely be the most high-profile free transfer to a rival club seen in England since Sol Campbell left Tottenham to join Arsenal in 2001.
A move across the North West, whilst highly unlikely, cannot be completely ruled out as this story attests.
However, if Alexander-Arnold were to leave Liverpool this coming summer it would be hard to see him look past Real Madrid, given their long-term courtship of the player and the fact that all signs point towards it being a clear decision between staying with his boyhood club or heading abroad.
