Chelsea are proving everyone everywhere wrong all at once. There was method to Todd Boehly’s mad spending spree after all. It’s left Chelsea with the most exciting team in the Premier League, enviable squad depth and, given the age of the players, enormous potential for the future.

So much for the conventional wisdom that Chelsea’s Yanks didn’t know what they were doing whereas Jim Ratcliffe, Dave Brailsford and the Ineos brain trust would soon set Manchester United on the right track.
