Kylian Mbappé’s highly anticipated move to Real Madrid hasn’t unfolded as smoothly as expected after his free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain this summer. Nonetheless, the player admits he was willing to give up on his dream move for one person.
It’s been a rollercoaster ride for the Frenchman at Real Madrid. Recently, the 25-year-old, under contract until 2029, has faced early challenges in Madrid. These were evident during Real Madrid’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool on Matchday 5 of the Champions League group stage.
With Vinicius sidelined, Mbappé had the chance to play in his preferred role but faced a frustrating match—a challenging moment for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.
Though he scored in a league match against Getafe over the weekend, Mbappé has struggled in key moments, highlighted by a missed penalty in the 68th minute during Real Madrid’s 2-1 loss to Athletic Club.
However, he responded on Saturday by scoring in a 3-0 win over Girona, capturing the highs and lows of his first season in Spain.

In an interview with Clique, Mbappé revealed that he would have extended his stay at PSG for his brother Ethan Mbappé.
“It happened, and it’s what impacted me the most,” Mbappé said. “For him, PSG was his Real Madrid, and in a way, I took that away from him. He told me he didn’t want to stay, that what they were doing to me wasn’t right. I said to him, ‘If you want to stay, I’ll renew my contract, and we’ll stay together for a while.’
“I would’ve given up my dream of Madrid for him. Ethan is my brother, and what’s the point of joining the best club in the world if it means ruining your brother’s career?”

Mbappé will attempt to turn his situation at Real Madrid around or else his dream move to the Spanish capital could turn into a nightmare.
