Arsenal played out a frustrating 1-1 Premier League draw against Fulham on the road yesterday.
The Gunners dominated proceedings at Craven Cottage, but they lacked the cutting edge in the final third with not many chances created from open play.
Raul Jimenez scored from a brilliant counter-attack for the Cottagers. Arsenal levelled the scores through William Saliba in the 52nd minute from a corner, but were unable to find the winner.
Thomas Partey missed the target with a free header in the box. Bukayo Saka scored prior to stoppage time, but Gabriel Martinelli was offside in the lead up.
There were some underwhelming performances in west London yesterday and in our opinion, Leandro Trossard was definitely the worst attacking player.
The left winger was a passenger at times in the opening half with much of the game play on the right.
He produced one terrific long ball for Declan Rice, who came closest to scoring in the opening half.
Aside from this, Trossard did not possess any threat in the opposition box and often dropped deep to pick up possession. He played with a rather slow tempo.
The 30-year-old completed just 15 passes with none of his two crosses finding a teammate. He also lost possession on 12 occasions before his 60th minute substitution.
Trossard received a 5/10 rating from Goal for his disappointing display.
Martinelli was also guilty of losing the ball at regular intervals, but the Brazilian played with more intent.
He completed just one cross with the other deemed offside. He delivered a peach of a ball for Saka’s goal which was chalked off by VAR. He should have been more aware.
In our view, Arteta must drop Trossard to the bench when Arsenal host AS Monaco in the Champions League on Wednesday. Martinelli should get the nod on the left wing.
