Liverpool are very keen on signing Bournemouth’s Hungarian left-back Milos Kerkez, and have received a major boost in their attempts to sign him.

The Reds' sporting director Richard Hughes has lots on his plate at the moment, with the contracts of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold set to expire at the end of the season.

While those deals will be taking up most of his time, Hughes also needs to provide Arne Slot with a squad that can compete for trophies beyond this season, and a number of key transfers are needed.

Anfield Watchexclusively reported last month that Liverpool have started talking to Kerkez about a potential transfer that could be worth up to £50m and Bournemouth are now planning for life without Kerkez in what will be a major boost to Liverpool’s transfer plans.

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing a 17-year-old Argentinian midfielder for what would be a record transfer fee.

Arne Slot is flying high at the moment, sitting top of the Premier League and Champions League tables having made few changes to the squad that he inherited from Jurgen Klopp.

However, it’s clear that Slot does need some reinforcements in certain areas of the squad if his success is to continue long-term, with injuries and fixture congestion causing issues.

Next season could see Liverpool without Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk when their contracts expire in June, while replacements will be needed for Darwin Nunez and Andy Roberston in the near future.

Slot already has a number of high-quality youngsters to call upon, with Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha in particular exciting many Reds fans and now it looks like the club could be about to add another incredible teenager to their ranks.

Agent confirms Reds can sign next De Bruyne

After a quiet summer transfer window, Liverpool will need to bolster their squad either in January or next summer to ensure Arne Slot has the tools to continue his impressive start to life at Anfield.

Initially, Liverpool tried to sign Martin Zubimendi, but after he chose to remain at Real Sociedad, the club decided to Ryan Gravenberch the keys to the Reds' midfield, playing the defensive midfielder role.

However, Liverpool are still in need of midfield reinforcements - Wataru Endo is likely to leave the club in the near future, while it remains to be seen where Slot uses Harvey Elliott, who lacks the physicality that Jones and Szoboszlai bring to the side.

It means there is a spot in the squad for a fresh face, and one player’s agent has opened the door to a big move.

After Liverpool brought Bournemouth's former sporting director Richard Hughes into the club's hierarchy, expectations were high for the summer transfer window.

However, after spending so much time trying to convince Martin Zubimendi of a move away from Real Sociedad, which he eventually rejected, Liverpool were only able to bring in the injury-ridden Federico Chiesa through the door before the season, with Giorgi Mamardashvili not set to arrive until next season.

Throw in the ongoing contract frustrations of Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who are set to leave the club next season if no deal is reached to extend their stay, and Hughes finds himself under pressure already.

However, Liverpool's plans for the January transfer window and beyond have been taking place in the background since the season started and the club might be set to make a statement signing in January in order to keep Arne Slot's magnificent start to the campaign going.

Manchester City are believed to be in talks to poach one of Liverpool’s key star players away from Anfield.

So far this season has not been going to plan for Liverpool’s long-time title rivals City, with a disastrous November period in which they failed to win a game, culminating with a lacklustre performance when they faced off against the Reds on the first day of December and lost 2-0.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are flying under Arne Slot and have capitalised on poor results from both Mikel Arteta's Arsenal and Man City to become huge favourites to win the Premier League title this season.

Now, it is reported that in an attempt to make up some of that lost ground next season, Pep Guardiola could tempt away one of Liverpool’s most important stars.

While the club's expectations at the start of the season were tempered, as Arne Slot was faced with the daunting task of replacing Jurgen Klopp, it is now clear that Liverpool can be serious contenders for the Premier League title.

After 21 games played, the team has won 18 of them, losing just one in that time, and now sitting at the top of the Premier League and the Champions League, they've proved their credentials as a team to look out for this season.

In their fight for Premier League glory stands reigning champions Manchester City and title pretenders from the past few seasons, Arsenal.

Despite having a largely strong team out, Mikel Arteta's Gunners were pinned back by Fulham, who ensured they dropped points for the second time in six games. Captaining Fulham's magnificent performances was one of Liverpool's very own transfer targets.
