In an interview with So Foot, Konaté revealed that PSG could have convinced him to rethink his decision to join FC Sochaux.
“My brothers wanted to distance me from something by making me leave Paris very early? I don’t think the main intention was to distance me from Paris because if PSG had been interested in me, we would probably have considered that option,” Konaté said (h/tLe10Sport).
“The first thing was to find an environment where the school was healthy and where theyreally cared about education. Sochaux showed a real interest in me at that time, and my mother immediately had a strong affection for it.”
The 25-year-old eventually left Sochaux in 2017 to join RB Leipzig, where he flourished as a player. This led to his move to Liverpool in 2021.
