La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly interested in 25-year-old Girona defender Ladislav Krejci as their search for a new centre-back continues.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Ladislav Krejci is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are scouring the market for a centre-back ahead of the two transfer windows next year. So, the 25-year-old Girona defender has emerged as a target for Los Blancos.
Who is Ladislav Krejci?
Ladislav Krejci has established himself as one of the best summer arrivals in La Liga since joining Girona from Sparta Praha in July 2024. A native of Rosice, the defender spent his formative years in Czechia, starting his youth career in his hometown before graduating from the youth division at FC Zbrojovka Brno.
However, the 25-year-old rose in prominence during his spell with Sparta Praha, spending half a decade with the Czech First League giants. Meanwhile, Krejci has hit the ground running at Girona, establishing himself as one of the rare bright spots in a demanding 2024/25 campaign thus far for the Catalan outfit.
The Czech defender has turned out 15 times thus far for Girona while chipping in with two goals and one assist. Meanwhile, Krejci’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid.
Move across La Liga on the cards?
Real Madrid’s interest in Ladislav Krejci is understandable. The reigning La Liga champions are scouring the market for a centre-back ahead of the two transfer windows next year. Carlo Ancelotti has only one senior, dependable centre-back in his squad after losing Eder Militao to a season-ending injury.
In addition, there is no clarity around David Alaba, with the Austrian international recovering from a long-term knee injury. So, several centre-backs, including Lisandro Martinez, have emerged on Real Madrid’s radar. However, Krejci is also a viable target, considering he has already settled down in La Liga.
The 25-year-old can initially be the understudy to Antonio Rudiger before taking over from the German international as Eder Militao’s long-term central defensive partner. However, a deal for the Czech defender is farfetched heading into the two transfer windows next year.
