Chelsea continued their excellent Premier League form on Sunday, as they outclassed Spurs 4-3 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Blues made a disastrous start to the away encounter, conceding two goals within the opening 11 minutes.
However, Chelsea initiated a comeback when Jadon Sancho dribbled past two players before curling a superb shot in off the right post after 17 minutes.
Tottenham lost two key defenders and they conceded two penalties, which were both converted by the excellent Cole Palmer in the second-half.
Between the two spot-kicks, Enzo Fernandez also got his name on the scoresheet by blasting home a magnificent strike.
Son Heung-min scored a late third for Spurs, but Enzo Maresca’s men went on to seal a brilliant comeback win.
The result means Chelsea are now only four points behind Liverpool, whose match at Everton was postponed due to Storm Darragh.
Football pundit Paul Merson was left hugely impressed with the Blues’ display on Sunday. He said they are now in the Premier League title race, calling them ‘Liverpool’s biggest threat’.
He told BBC Sport: “This is Chelsea’s biggest game of the season, going to Tottenham and winning, going second in the league, four points behind Liverpool.
“They’ve got a big squad. They’re in the title race. They might not go on and win it but they’re in it at the moment and they’re Liverpool’s biggest threat”.
Nobody expected Chelsea to be in the Premier League title race at the start of the season, but they have completely defied expectations under Maresca.
They are currently on a four-game winning streak and haven’t lost since the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool back in October.
Their excellent performances in recent weeks mean Chelsea are now being regarded as title contenders by many pundits and fans.
