"That's when you see the champions" – Amad Diallo opens up on message from Bruno Fernandes after Manchester United beat Everton 4-0

close

Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has stated that Bruno Fernandes offered him advice after the Red Devils' 4-0 Premier League home triumph over Everton earlier this month.

On December 1, Diallo started his third straight league game and produced a brilliant display at Old Trafford. The left-footed star laid out two assists operating as a right wing-back in new head coach Ruben Amorim's 3-4-3 system.

After the end of the encounter, the former Atalanta ace was seen having a conversation with Fernandes. Asked to shed light on the aforesaid incident, the 22-year-old replied to Sky Sport Italia (h/t Manchester Evening News):

"He told me some things to improve during games and asked me to be more focused towards the end of the game because that's when you see the champions. I am so happy to have Bruno as my teammate here. He speaks Italian, so we have a special bond."

Opening up on his new role under Amorim, Diallo commented:

"We try to follow the coach’s philosophy. He speaks to the players; he was a footballer himself, so he understands our feelings, and we are happy to have him. I always try to repay the coach's trust. We've been on good terms since he arrived. He's always tried to help me, especially because I am playing a new role."

Diallo, who left Atalanta to join Manchester United in 2021, added:

"It's a position I already covered at Atalanta under [Gian Piero] Gasperini, but it was more towards the middle. This wing-back position is kind of new to me. I try to do it and the coach is helping me. I am enjoying every moment."

So far this campaign, Diallo has scored three goals and contributed six assists in 21 matches across all competitions for Manchester United.

Manchester United eyeing Bundesliga star

According to Caught Offside, Manchester United are keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund star Felix Nmecha. They are set to face stiff competition from Newcastle United and Aston Villa in the race to sign the 24-year-old midfielder.

Nmecha, who is an ex-Manchester City star, has cemented himself as a vital squad member for Dortmund since leaving VfL Wolfsburg last summer. He has registered five goals and four assists in 48 total matches for his club so far.

With Christian Eriksen and Casemiro currently deemed to be in decline, Nmecha could prove to be a clever piece of business for Manchester United. Dortmund are willing to entertain bids of around £37 million for their midfielder.
