Liverpool decide their transfer priority as Arne Slot prepares to strengthen the squad

Liverpool are sitting at the top of the Premier League and Champions League standings after a fine start to their season.

They have been highly successful under Arne Slot this season, surprising not only their rivals but their own fans as well.

Mohamed Salah has inspired them with his world class performances this season while Virgil Van Dijk has been rock solid in their defense once again, showing that he is still at the top of his game despite being 33-years-old.

Even after an underwhelming summer transfer window, in which only Federico Chiesa arrived at the club, the Reds have managed to stay competitive and have been the surprise package of the season.

However, they realise that reinforcements are needed in the squad and they are ready to invest money in order to become even more stronger.

According to GiveMeSport, Liverpool are going to target a move for a new left-back, centre-back, central midfielder and an attacker.

It remains to be seen whether they will do that in the January transfer window or wait till the end of the season and sign new players in the summer.

The uncertain futures of Salah, Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold could force them to enter the market and replace these three key players at the club.

More than Salah and Van Dijk, who are now increasingly looking likely to stay at the club, they should be worried about the long term future of Alexander-Arnold.

Liverpool need a new striker to strengthen their attack

It is clear that they need a new attacker since Darwin Nunez has struggled to perform this season and his failure to find consistency has been a huge cause of concern for the Reds.

In 11 Premier League matches this season, Nunez has only scored two goals.

One of the players Liverpool are targeting is Brighton attacker Joao Pedro who has been in fine form this season.

Another position that should concern Slot is the left-back position where Andy Robertson has been disappointing for them. It makes sense why they have decided to move for a new left-back.

With a few more additions in the squad, particularly in the January transfer window, the Reds can run away with the Premier League title and get an advantage over the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City for the rest of the season.
