Jadon Sancho shares what Enzo Maresca told him at half-time in Chelsea's 4-3 win against Tottenham

Jadon Sancho has shared how Enzo Maresca led Chelsea to a comeback win against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

At one point, it looked like Chelsea were heading for defeat after Tottenham found themselves 2-0 up less than 15 minutes into the game.

However, the Blues hit back in the 17th minute when Jadon Sancho scored a brilliant goal against Ange Postecoglou’s men.

Enzo Maresca praised Sancho after the game for his impact, and the winger has revealed what his manager told him at half-time to inspire Chelsea to a 4-3 win.

Enzo Maresca’s instructions at half-time

While Chelsea were poor defensively in the first half, with Marc Cucurella making two costly errors, they attacked very well.

And it was a similar theme in the second half after Maresca told Sancho and the rest of the team to utilise the flanks and isolate Tottenham’s full-backs.

Speaking to the BBC after the game, Sancho said: “Going in at half-time, the gaffer was telling us we were in the game. I have so much belief in the players so I knew we’d come out firing.

“They’re very aggressive and we knew we’d catch them if we broke the lines and beat the press. The gaffer told us to stay wide and create the one-on-ones.”

Jadon Sancho working on shooting

Sancho has found his shooting boots at Chelsea, scoring in two consecutive games in the Premier League following his strikes against Tottenham and Southampton.

In the same post-match interview with the BBC, the 24-year-old said: “I’ve been working on my shooting a bit more.”

Since arriving at Chelsea from Manchester United in the summer, Sancho has been a real source of creativity for Maresca’s team.

In total, the England international has provided five assists in 10 appearances, while he has also averaged 1.1 key passes per league game, which is the fourth-highest average in Chelsea’s squad (via WhoScored).

Now that the former Borussia Dortmund man is starting to add goals to his game, Sancho is looking like an extremely dangerous winger for Chelsea.

They signed Sancho on loan with an obligation to buy, and the fee that they will have to pay to sign him permanently is believed to be just £25m. It means that you are easily looking at one of the deals of the summer.
