Jack Clarke is not having a good time of it down at Ipswich Town, and the former Sunderland man may have to return to the North East to save his career.
After impressing at Sunderland and establishing himself as one of the best players in the Championship last season, it was not all that surprising to see Jack Clarke snapped up by a Premier League club.
However, with Ipswich struggling, and Clarke himself failing to make an impact there, the young winger must surely be assessing his options in January.
Ipswich fans are not happy with Clarke’s performances and don’t want to see him playing for the club. So, it makes sense for the Black Cats to rescue their former hero in the New Year.

Jack Clarke continues to struggle at Ipswich Town
Clarke was given just ten minutes of action in the defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon, getting just 11 touches of the ball as his team collapsed late on against the Cherries.
This comes off the back of an error-laden display against Crystal Palace in midweek, where Clarke was handed a rare start for the Tractor Boys.

Clarke was unable to make the most of his opportunity there, and it seems that everything he is attempting at the moment simply isn’t working.
With Ipswich struggling near the foot of the Premier League table, fans are running out of patience and appear to be making Clarke the scapegoat, leaving the winger with a big decision to make in January.

Sunderland fans would put aside ill feelings and welcome Jack Clarke back
While Sunderland fans were upset to see Clarke leave in the summer and disappointed by the manner of the exit, there is no doubt getting the player back would be seen as a big boost to their promotion hopes this season.
Indeed, Regis Le Bris may only be one or two signings away from having a squad that can truly compete for the title this year, and Clarke would absolutely be a game-changer for the Black Cats.
While Le Bris insists his priority is ensuring his young players continue to develop rather than looking at new players in January, a Jack Clarke return would serve both purposes in many ways.
Of course, the emergence of Tommy Watson of late could leave Sunderland feeling they don’t need Clarke anymore. Watson’s two-goal heroics against Stoke over the weekend probably made fans forget all about their former star, but it would be foolish to turn down such an opportunity if a loan move could be struck in the New Year.
