Jadon Sancho shares what Enzo Maresca told Chelsea players at half-time before they pulled off comeback against Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea star Jadon Sancho has opened up on what Enzo Maresca told the Blues stars during the half-time break of their recent 4-3 Premier League win at Tottenham Hotspur.

Earlier this Sunday (December 8), Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski each scored a goal inside the opening 11 minutes of the contest at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Sancho netted a stunning long-range goal in the 17th minute.

After resuming play in the second half, Chelsea emerged as the dominant outfit. Cole Palmer converted two penalties on either side of Enzo Fernandez's 73rd-minute left-footed strike. Son Heung-min scored the north London team's third goal in the sixth minute of injury time, but to no avail in the end.

Following the end of the Blues' away victory, Sancho revealed that his club's head coach told him and his teammates that a win was within their grasp. He told BBC Match of the Day (h/t BBC):

"Going 2-0 down in the first half was not ideal but I knew we'd come back into the game when we got that first goal. Going in at half-time, the gaffer was telling us we were in the game. I have so much belief in the players so I knew we'd come out firing."

Sancho, who is on loan from Manchester United, continued:

"They're very aggressive and we knew we'd catch them if we broke the lines and beat the press. The gaffer told us to stay wide and create the one-on-ones. I've been working on my shooting a bit more. The staff and the players have been telling me otherwise."

Sancho, 24, has found the back of the net twice and recorded five assists in 10 games across competitions for Chelsea in the ongoing campaign.

Ex-Tottenham Hotspur star shares thoughts on crisis at former club after losing 4-3 to Chelsea

Taking to X, former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O'Hara claimed that Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou should be sacked after Sunday's league loss to London rivals Chelsea. The 38-year-old wrote:

"I'm done with this garbage, we are a disgrace, 2-0 up and get battered, we have zero clue of how to win games, it's just s*** or bust, I'm sorry it can't go on like this, time to go."

Spurs are currently in 11th place in the 2024-25 Premier League standings with 20 points from 15 matches. They have recorded just one win – a 4-0 league win at Manchester City – in their last seven games across competitions.

Chelsea are second with 31 points from 15 league matches this season.
